The Lakers continue to look like a team that doesn’t want to play with one another. They are losing games they should win and have no team chemistry on the defense or offense. When they formed this team, everyone thought they will make it back to the NBA Finals. Now they are on the verge of not even making the playoffs. From firing their head coach Mike Brown after 4 games to hiring Mike D’Antoni to Howard’s minimal impact to the benching of Pau Gasol, the Lakers do not seem to get it right. And it is so unfortunate because Phil Jackson was willing to come back and coach this team (which fits his Triangle offense) but Buss passed on him because of personal reasons and hired the stubborn fast paced offensive coach D’Antoni. The Lakers are a joke right now and are very hard to watch.
Kobe Bryant has reached a new level angry and even decided to join twitter to let go some of his thoughts. He wants to go in on his teammates, especially Howard, but Howard is a very sensitive guy that doesn’t respond to confrontation. Howard has to be the biggest disappointment because he is the guy they were willing to build around and had faith on his impact on the game. He is not himself in LA, and his laughable personality does not fit well with the serious winning attitude in LA. His name is in a few trade rumors and it seems inevitable that he will leave LA next year when he is a free agent.
So why can’t this team get it together? Will they make the playoffs? What is the future of the franchise? Is this Kobe’s last ride? Here is Phirst Contention debating about the Lakers:
